Experience the atmosphere of a 500-year-old family farm
Research has shown that Nopola is the likely main homestead of the Noponen family. The farm's land has been inhabited since the 16th century. It is unusual for a farm in eastern Finland to have remained within the same family for 500 years. Agriculture and forestry have been undertaken at Nopola since 1638.
Over the long history of the farm, it has also hosted a school and student club. The Toivontähti temperance society was also set up in Nopola's sitting room. During the war, the farm offered refuge, a place to sleep and food to evacuees.
During your visit, Nopola's owners will be happy to tell you stories of the farm's centuries-old traditions and eventful history.
